... for a city taking on a new dimension
The new real estate and retail developments in Louvain-la-Neuve – numerous residential dwellings, the construction of a shopping gallery on the Boulevard de Wallonie, the installation of the Cinescope cinemas and the laying out of the Rue de Charlemagne – will considerably multiply the number of visitors to the city centre, which is why the car parks have been so carefully developed and both circulation and parking are under professional management.
The existing car parks no longer met security norms and therefore required heavy investment. The UCL, up to then owners of all the car parks, decided to put this in the hands of professionals.
The ‘Parking Cathedral’ group and Wilhelm & Co., developers of the L’esplanade project, founded a company called LPe (Les parkings de L’esplanade), owners of the four central car parks, and one called Gespark, which is charged with the daily management of all these car parks and the 7 private car parks belonging to the UCL.
